kay(f)bop(t) phonetics and romanization

November 28, 2015

! is a click made on the left side of the mouth (optionally stick jaw to the left to distinguish from *)

* is a click made on the right side of the mouth (optionally stick jaw to the right to distinguish from !)

% is a clap, and may only occur in morphemes pertaining to penguins

@ is a facepalm, and may only occur in function words

each syllable is followed by the appropriate hat in parentheses, so “yop(f)” is “yop” said while wearing a fedora

f is fedora, t is tophat, b is baseball cap, and p is pangolin-shaped hat (though if the speaker does not possess a pangolin-shaped hat, a turkey-shaped hat may be substituted, though a person who does this is seen as untrustworthy)

if, while constructing a word, you find that you have a “u” followed by an “a”, even across a syllable break, that is not a valid word

there is no repair strategy, you just can’t say that
